Employment Exchange Event for Pakistani Students in China Held in Beijing
On January 11, an “Employment Exchange Event for Pakistani Students in China” was held in Beijing, co-organized by the China Overseas Development Association (CODA), the Embassy of Pakistan in China, and China International Technology & Intellectual Cooperation Group Co., Ltd. (CITIC). H.E. Khalil Hashmi, Ambassador of Pakistan to China, and Mr. He Zhenwei, President of CODA, delivered opening remarks at the event. Also in attendance were Mr. Ren Zhanying, Deputy Director-General of the Center for Vocational Education Development under China’s Ministry of Education; Mr. Wang Kang, Chairman of CITIC; representatives from several Chinese enterprises; and over 100 Pakistani students studying in China.
In his speech, Ambassador Khalil Hashmi emphasized that this exchange event provides a valuable opportunity to deepen talent collaboration between China and Pakistan and support Pakistani students’ employment prospects in China, thereby further strengthening comprehensive cooperation between the two countries under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) framework.
President He Zhenwei stated that CODA will take this event as a starting point to continuously advance Sino-Pakistani talent cooperation, promote a more robust and integrated talent development system, and encourage Chinese enterprises to further refine career pathways for international students. He expressed hope that Pakistani students would integrate their professional expertise with ongoing China-Pakistan collaborative projects, achieving both personal growth and mutual benefit. He also called for deeper educational collaboration between the two nations to establish regularized mechanisms for talent exchange and facilitate the implementation of more concrete cooperative projects.
The event received strong support from several central state-owned enterprises. Representatives from companies such as Sinomach (China National Machinery Industry Corporation), China Zhongyuan Engineering Corporation, and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation attended the event, introducing their ongoing projects in Pakistan and outlining relevant job opportunities tailored for Pakistani students. During the interactive session, Pakistani students engaged in in-depth discussions with enterprise representatives on topics including career planning and position suitability, creating a vibrant and enthusiastic atmosphere.
The successful hosting of this employment exchange highlights CODA’s pivotal role as a bridge in promoting international economic cooperation and talent exchange, while reaffirming the shared commitment of China and Pakistan to jointly advance the Belt and Road Initiative. Moving forward, CODA will continue building such platforms for talent interaction, fostering greater collaboration between international students and Chinese enterprises, creating win-win opportunities, and driving BRI cooperation toward deeper and broader horizons.
